Love

With few hours to Valentine’s Day, Beatles “all we need is love” resonates especially with the different magnitudes of despair and conflicts worldwide.
We all could use a bit of love. We should all endeavour to make sure that love for us is not solely associated with Valentine’s Day but rather should be shown to one another every day. Let the feast of St. Valentine be a reminder to extend love to the beggar on the streets, to call your parents you have not spoken to in a while, to make peace with enemies, share a smile, chat with people you wouldn't usually chat with, treat people with kindness, be a listening ear, do something nice, encourage someone with words or actions, share and send messages of hope. There are loads of other ways of showing love and you can invent one as well.

As we count down to Valentine’s Day may we all be reminded of St. Paul’s message to the Corinthians? "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV).
